Immigration federalism is vibrant. In addition to the Justice Department lawsuits against New Jersey and Washington over their laws limiting cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (blog here) and a separate lawsuit against and California for banning for-profit immigration detention centers, New York state sued the Trump administration over its decision to bar the state’s residents from enrolling in Global Entry. The lawsuit comes in response to the Trump Administration's announcement that New York would be banned from participating due to noncompliance driver's licenses, as reported in a prior ImmigrationProf blog post.
