The New York Times reports:
The owners of the Mets, having been sued for $1 billion by the trustee representing victims of Bernard L. Madoff’s vast Ponzi scheme, described the complaint filed by SIPC trustee Irving Picard as a "work of fiction".
The owners - whose investment company is Sterling Equities - say that Picard had repeatedly ignored or misrepresented evidence that showed they had no good reason to have suspected Mr. Madoff was operating a fraud during their many years of investing with him.
